Residential Programs




At EIU, we offer residential programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level.  We offer one graduate degree, two programs toward a bachelors degree, and two professional certificate programs. Click on each program below

Academic Year

The Academic year at EUCON International University Graduate School consists of two semesters of 15 weeks each. Fall Semester begins at the end of August or beginning of September and ends in mid-December. Spring Semester begins
in mid-January and ends at the beginning of May.

Summer and Winter Schools

EUCON International University Graduate School offers Summer School and Winter School Programs for students who desire to accelerate their academic programs. Summer School begins at the close of each academic year and finishes
by late August. Winter School begins at the end of December and finishes before the second semester begins. The University reserves the right to cancel any course having fewer than three students officially registered.

Courses are taught by both resident faculty and adjunct professors during the summer and winter sessions. A full-time load of coursework for summer and winter school students is considered to be 9 credit hours over any combination of sessions. No student may register for more than three courses during the same session without prior permission.

Student Load

The normal load for a full-time student is 12 -15 credit hours per semester. The minimum full-time load is 9 semester hours. Any student who desires to take more than normal load needs to meet with an advisor who will deny or
approve the request. No student will be allowed to take more than 15 credits if his GPA is lower than 3.5.

Purpose of the Master of Arts in Theology Degree

The purpose of the Master of Arts in Theology degree is to provide a basic understanding of theological disciplines for further graduate/postgraduate studies and strengthen the student’s understanding of Bible doctrine which
will increase confidence in the Scriptures, expand student’s knowledge of God, and develop a realistic view of humanity to prepare students for ministry, particularly in an Asian context.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will engage in analysis, synthesis, and critical evaluation of the basic Christian doctrines.

     
  • Students will develop skills in biblical interpretation and apply these skills in the evaluation of theological systems.

     
  • Students will develop graduate level research, writing, and communication skills culminating in written graduate level research papers.

     
  • Students will construct a consistent theological system and defend same.

     
  • Students will apply theological truths learned to life and Christian service.

     
  • Students will develop a deeper understanding and walk with the Lord.

Purpose and Objectives

The Bachelor of Arts Degree in Bible is designed to train students to know the Word of God. The program provides a solid foundation for the teaching of spiritual truth, which will lead not only to the proper understanding of God\’s Word, but also
to the proper application of God\’s Word in students\’ lives. Students may pursue full-time Christian service in the local church, mission field, Christian schools and colleges, and other Christian organizations after their training.

Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to:

  • Exhibit knowledge of the doctrine and content of the Scriptures.

     
  • Demonstrate skills in disciple-making and evangelism.

     
  • Use experience and exposure from various types of ministries.

     
     

Note: All Bible Degree Candidates will be required to pass an oral Bible and Theology exam covering the following areas: Old Testament, New Testament, Church History, and Bible Doctrines. The format of the exam will be that of an ordination council.

Purpose and Objectives

The purpose of the education program is to prepare students to serve as classroom teachers in a Christian school ministry. The education program is designed to equip students to enter the teaching ministry with a traditional Christian teaching
philosophy in content and in methods.

The program provides practical experience essential for teaching in a Christian school. Students will gain practical teaching experience during their teaching internship at EUCON International School.

Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to:

  • Recognize the humanistic philosophy and methods used in \”progressive\” education.

     
  • Demonstrate an adequate knowledge of traditional Christian teaching philosophy.

     

  • Apply traditional Christian teaching skills needed for teaching effectively in a Christian school.

     
 

For Double Majors, students need to fulfill the requirements of both degrees (Bible and Education):

1. Freshmen (31 credits)

2. Sophomore (51 credits)

3. Junior (51 credits)

4. Senior (51 credits)

Grand total: 184 credits

Students also need to pass all exams including Mock ordination required under the Bible major.

Minors

For Bible Majors, a minor in Education may be earned by completing at least 24 credits of Education (ED or EDU) coursework beyond the requirements of the Bible major.

For Education Majors, a minor in Bible may be earned by completing at least 24 credits of Bible coursework beyond the requirements of the Education major.


 

Purpose and Objectives

The purpose of this One-Year Certification Program is to prepare the student for service in an English as Second Language (ESL) ministry to the Chinese people.

The student will receive practical training in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL). Students will practice planning and delivering instruction during their teaching internship at EUCON International School.

Upon completion of the certificate program, the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an adequate knowledge of basic Mandarin, modern Chinese history, and Chinese culture.

     
  • Use TESL as a method of evangelism to the Chinese people.

     
     

 

Purpose and Objectives

The purpose of this One-Year Certificate Program is college preparation for students who do not speak English as a first language.

The student will receive practical training in learning English as Second Language so as to pursue higher education in English or to pursue careers which demand English.

Upon completion of the certificate program, the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an adequate knowledge of English in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

     
  • Use English as a tool to pursue higher education and future careers which require English fluency.

     
     

     

 

Note: ESL courses are preparatory and do not earn college degree credits.  ESL courses earn Non-Degree Units (NDU).
